CDR/DVD+R media wont work in burner
firmware issue
it is probably not recognizing the "new type" of media you are giving it.
companies come out with new "types" of cdr media all the time and DVD burner manufacturers comstantly have to update their firmware and burner inventory to keep up.
it's time for a firmware update of your optical drive.
go to your manufacturer's web site and download the firmware update and follow the instructions.
If a newer firmware update is not available for your drive, then replace the drive - the manufacturer probably has dropped support for it, or you can wait a while or contact support for an update.
You can see what firmware version you have by doing [windows-logo-flag-key]-[Pause/Break], Hardware, Device manager, DVD/CD-ROM Drives. then pick your drive and right click, pick properties, Details. the firmware version is usually on the far right of the model name.

stick with taiyo yuden media. it's compatible with all drives. hut beware, there are knock-offs out there.

If you need to have something last 300 years, this is the stuff. Mitsui MAM-A works for older drive mechanisms!
