full spectrum lighting

Bulbs, incandescent
you can generally get these from a store. they have a blueish filter on them and they are kind of dim and they get hot.
neolite, available from fullspectrumsolutions $6-12ea
comes in decorative, 40W vanity, and flood. lasts 5000 hours! This is longer than the Duro-Test incandescent long-term bulbs (2500hrs)!
Bulbs, fluorescent
Daylight/full spectrum fluorescents are better than incandescents - incandescents use a filter and are kind of dark. the fluorescents just emit light in the spectrum you want and are fairly bright.
BlueMax bulbs, available from fullspectrumsolutions $
daylight bulbs & tubes, available from bulbs $
all kinds, but bulbs at bottom of page.
Duro-Test Spiralux Daylight 65 & Vita-Lite bulbs, available from budgetlighting $14-15. discounts for quantity.
a mite expensive, but good for color matching. and it's a daylight bulb. they have a Duro-Test section.
bulbs, long tube fluorescent
Philips has their T950 series and their Alto Daylight and Alto Daylight High-Output(HO) bulbs. Very bright. I think we have the earlier version. We suggest if you have an apartment, that you buy these for your overhead lighting instead of letting the apartment complex use theirs! you spend I think about twice as much, but it's worth it. Makes all the other lighting in the house appear dim. however, those overheads are 40W apiece, so they really suck up the juice. we can see what we are doing now, lights up practically the whole living room instead of just the kitchen.
daylight tubes, available from fullspectrumsolutions $
get the Maxum 5000. you want the most amount of light you can get.
daylight tubes, available from bulbs $
T8, T12, all kinds, all lengths. color temp generally around 6500K.
Philips TL950 T8, available from truesun $174-199/case
available in 24", 36", 48". no UVB output. 5000K color temp.
Daylight Tubes & Bulbs, available from atlantalightbulbs. minimum order 25.
all kinds on this page. includes Philips T12, which could be used in apartments. LED bulbs too. note: F40DX ALTO 40W T12 48" 6500K DAY LIGHT FLUORESCENT 27359-9 PHILIPS BRAND REPLACES F40D F40T12DX F40DX
Philips Alto DX tubes, T12 and SP65, available from atlantalightbulbs, minimum order 30 or 75.
Note that you can get daylight bulbs like these from Lowe's, Builder's Square, or Home Depot, or possibly (maybe) a local lighting store. These are the equivelant to what we put in our apartment and got at the store. great stuff. and inexpensive.
Vita-Lite and Daylight 65 from Duro-Test, Vita-lite available at lightbulbkenny $11ea, budgetlighting $11ea-$360/case. 4-6 mimimum vita-lite. Daylight 65 available at budgetlighting $336/case ($11 ea)
available in T8, T10, T12, TH12, T12U. CRI of 91 (highest available for fluorescents). Daylight 65 is only available in T12 48" (you should prefer this one I think over the vita-lite - also has a color temp of 6500K and a CRI of 92). These are expensive. good color rendition.
Torchieres
daylight torchieres, available from fullspectrumsolutions $
fluorescent torchieres that use a daylight fluorescent bulb. energy star. use this instead of the one at the store. you will be a lot happier I think. that is, if you like fluorescent torchieres.
